Academia Tierra Sabia specializes in comprehensive midwifery and doula education. Our curriculum also includes specialized lactation courses designed for practicing midwives and doulas.
Our signature Midwifery Program incorporates integrated training in doula support, birth assistance, and lactation education. These components are also offered as individual standalone courses for those seeking specific credentials rather than the complete midwifery pathway. Additionally, we offer Evidence-Based Birth Childbirth Preparation classes for expectant parents.

Herbalism
Herbalism and Midwifery are an amazing combination. Academia Tierra Sabia has a full herbal program. The Family Herbalism Program includes Maiden Mother Crone- Women's Herb Course, Herbs for Birth Workers, Men's Herb Course, Pediatric Herbalism and an Elder/Senior Herb Course. Midwifery, Doula and Birth Assistants
The EarthWise Midwifery two-year program was founded on the needs of women wanting a midwifery education without leaving home. EarthWise Doula Program was also born from community needs. Community
Academia Tierra Sabia is dedicated to community building. Academia Tierra Sabia responds to the needs and voices of the communities it serves. Whether that community is in the heart of Mennonite land in Cuauhtémoc, the Sierra Tarahumara or the worldwide community, Academia Tierra Sabia is ready to help in the training of folks in herbalism and birth work.
Katia LeMone, Midwife, Clinical Herbalist
Katia has been working in midwifery since 1988, receiving her New Mexico midwifery license to practice in 1991. She has been teaching midwifery and childbirth ever since. She opened Casa Geburt Birth Center in Cuauhtémoc Chihuahua in 2016. The school and birth center mostly serve the nearby Mennonite community. A midwifery and doula school was started and is presently working with the fourth generation of midwives.
Herbs and plant medicine have gone hand-in-hand with her midwifery career. She has been a practicing Clinical Herbalist since 2014 and is the owner of Rosa Luna Apothecary housed in the Casa Geburt Birth Center.
She remains dedicated to the service of her community as an educator, midwife and herbalist.
